Think of an Appshot as a smarter screenshot. It gives Codex visual context from an app window without you needing to copy, paste, or describe everything on the screen.

But that's not the coolest part: With computer use permission enabled, Codex can inspect and interact with apps in the background while you continue working somewhere else. You can monitor what it’s doing through a picture-in-picture preview.

Appshots help Codex work better with iPhone simulators in Xcode, and Mac apps that don’t have an MCP server or API that Codex can use directly.
